Railroad Earth is releasing a new album, “All For The Song” [Listen]

Today, railroad land released their highly anticipated Anders Osborne-product album, Everything for the song. The New Jersey-based folk-flavored hobo jam band traveled to New Orleans to get away from it all and focus on recording new tunes after the founding member’s untimely passing. Andy Goesling. The album beautifully displays both the grief that served as its inspiration and the syncretic spirit of The Big Easy where it was recorded.

Featuring ten tracks including previously released singles “The Great Divide”, “Come and Go Moon” and “It’s So Good”, Everything for the song is the band’s first studio album since 2017 captain nowhere. After experiencing terrible upheaval when multi-instrumentalist Andy Goessling succumbed to cancer in 2018, the band forged a new path, and in 2019 they announced they were working on a new record with the producer and solo artist at full Anders Osborne. The record was originally slated for release in 2020, but didn’t debut until two years later.

Although the compositions stay true to the bluegrass roots and rock n roll spirit of Railroad Earth, with poignant and contemplative lyrics filled with references to the wonders of nature, the band embraced new influences and a new process for their latest work, calling it a “destination”. record.

“From the start, the vision was more than the music,” said guitarist/lead vocalist Todd Sheaffer. “We looked at this as a ‘destination’ record. Our past records have all been made close to home or, in fact, at home. Andy’s passing was at the center of our thoughts and hearts while writing and recording this album. Things got so turned upside down that we thought it would be a benefit to get away from all the distractions and be together. In New Orleans, there is good food and there are good spirits to share. I’ll leave the music part of the equation to others to judge, but we sure managed to deliver the bonding part of the vision! »
