Hear the 100 hottest winners The Wiggles take over Lime Cordiale and Idris Elba’s Apple Crumble – Up News Info

After making Hottest 100 history with their Like A Version cover of “Elephant”, The Wiggles backed it up with a cover of another Hottest 100 song: “Apple Crumble”.

“We’re still so excited about the triple j Hottest 100 – it’s going to take us a while to get over it!” Anthony ‘Blue Wiggle’ Field said in a statement. “Earlier last week we went into the studio to record ‘Apple Crumble’ – a song that also made the Hottest 100, coming in at #14 for Lime Cordiale and Idris Elba.”

If you thought the iconic children’s band performing Tame Impala’s stoner rock anthem was weird, then the novelty of hearing this Wiggly version of “Apple Crumble” might be even weirder. Listen below.

This might be the first Wiggles track to emphasize trap beats and auto tuning, and they haven’t changed the original’s trippy lyrics, which suggest more than a little threesome action:

‘I’m in the center of a Stella and a Gabrielle / One is a Scorpio, the other is a UFO
I didn’t tell my wife, I really hope she doesn’t know’

The new version of ‘Apple Crumble’ (which appears on Lime Cordiale & Idris Elba’s new album Cordy Elba mini-album), is taken from Rewiggled, an upcoming double album of covers capitalizing on the success of The Wiggles’ “Elephant.”

Released on March 11, Rewiggled features current and OG Wiggles members teaming up to take on classics (think “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Rihanna), plus a stack of contemporary Aussie bands reinterpreting Wiggles classics, including The Cats, Stealla Donnelly, San Cisco, Spacey Jane, DZ Deathrays and Polish Club (the latter two also joining the OG Wiggles on tour next year).

Rewiggled also features the Wiggles cover of The Cats’ “Pub Feed,” and following their Hottest 100 win, OG Purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt received a mullet in honor of his new favorite shed rockers. Listen to their version below, as well as the Cats’ version on “Can You (Point Your Fingers and Do The Twist?)”.

Arriving in 2022 to coincide with the Wiggles’ 30th anniversary celebrations, the cover double album is actually an update of a 2011 tribute album, also titled Rewiggled. This compilation included Wiggles songs reinterpreted by The Living End, Washington, Jebediah, Spiderbait, Sarah Blasko, Frenzal Rhomb and more.
