Over the past decade, Charles Jenkins infused the gospel radio waves with an eclectic mix of hits, ranging from the hymn of praise and worship that sells for gold “Impressive”To the infectious 5e Ward New Orleans groove from “I can’t go back. “He continues to broaden his musical horizons with a Big Band-style digital vacation EP,”A Charles Jenkins Christmas(Inspired People), now available on all digital platforms (Listen:

Jenkins composed all of the songs for the five-track set. It opens with the bounceIt’s christmas day”Which features a nimble ivory tickle, a daring brass section and a suave double bass. It is followed by the jump number, “Let’s dance, a dazzling duo with Lena Byrd Miles which is as exciting as a Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers dance routine. The Ballad, “Under the Christmas skyIs a majestically orchestrated song on the birth of the baby Jesus. “Christmas hopsIs a catchy melody reminiscent of Cab Calloway’s Swing tracks like “Hi De Ho Man”. The project ends with a heart-wrenching soul ballad, “Christmas is not the same»Which recalls with nostalgia memories of vacations with deceased relatives. It’s a brilliant collection of new classics.

“I wanted to produce new Christmas music that has the potential to be timeless,” Jenkins said when asked why he chose this classic genre. “I’m fascinated by the flowing classical works of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway and others. I wanted to try to pay homage to their impeccable plan in the 21st century. I want to create warm, classic and festive art in a sophisticated way. I feel like my producer Sam williams and my incredible team of talented musicians, transcriptionists and arrangers have succeeded.

Fans can see Jenkins on stage and on screen this season. He plays on “Tthe stellar tribute to the holidays”TV program currently airing in syndication until the end of the year.
